The Studio
Sunday mornings at 11:00 a.m., The Studio is an experientially-based worship that strives to embrace the
spirit of the age by integrating the arts and technology into worship.
The Arts + The Spirit = The Studio. Our music is JAZZ! Our worship
is "expecting the unexpected". The message is the experience......
If
you relate with any of the statements below, you may want to check
out The Studio this Sunday:
- I've given up on traditional church.
- I'm looking for spiritual experience, not prepackaged dogma.
- I like jazz and rock, not hymns and Bach.
- I love "the arts."
- Is there any church out there that celebrates the connection
between spirituality and art?
- I find sermons boring. Give me something that relates directly
to my life.
- I think many churches are more interested in money than people.
- I want to find a community of REAL people, who aren't uptight
about people who are very different from themselves.
- I'm looking for a community that is open and accepting of all
people, regardless of race, age, gender, or sexual orientation.
- I can't stand simplistic answers often given by Christians to
complex problems.
- I'm looking for worship that's uplifting, not preachy and condemning.
- Children’s Church is offered during the Studio. Child Care is also offered.

FAQ
regarding the Studio
What is the purpose of The Studio?
The Studio is different from either “traditional” or
“contemporary” worship; it is meant to offer an alternative
that maintains ties with the depth of Christian tradition, while
at the same time carrying it into the 21st Century.
How is The Studio different from “traditional” or
“contemporary” worship?
The Studio is experience-based, while both “traditional”
and “contemporary” worship are message-based. The focus
of The Studio is on opening people to experiencing the story of
faith first-hand on many different levels, using aspects from their
everyday lives as catalysts. Both “traditional” and
“contemporary” worship are centered around a sermon
delivered by a pastor. The purpose of the sermon is to elucidate
the theme of the day.
In The Studio, the whole service is “the sermon.” The
pastor assumes the role of traveling companion and interpretive
guide, experiencing the flow of worship her/himself and reflecting
on what is happening. We draw heavily upon the visual arts, music
(primarily jazz, but also rock integrated through multimedia reflections),
hands-on exercises, drama, dialogs, dance, and multimedia technology
to add depth and texture, creating a truly multi-sensory experience
of worship. |
