Way-Cool Stuff for Teens!
Teens are integrated in the life of this very welcoming church. Teenagers
are involved in:
- Creating multimedia presentations in our teen tech computer
lab
- Dancing in our Jazz Angels dance group
- Teaching art at our B.E.A.C.H. program
- Leading vacation bible school
- Acting in skits presented in worship
- Playing handbells in our bellchoir
- Running our digital video cameras during worship
And the list goes on, expanding and adapting to the interest and
skills of the teenagers. Currently, the teenagers are fixing up
a teen room in order to have their own place to gather at the church.
We
have scheduled lock ins, summer camps, mission trips and service
projects which are open to any teenagers. Please know that you or
your family do not have to be a member of this church in order to
participate in these activities. Medical forms and permission slips
are required prior to any event.
In November, our youth attend Thanksgiving Alive!, sponsored by our Southwest Conference. They participate in service projects on Saturday, a group dance on Saturday evening, and worship on Sunday morning. This is a great event that always gets rave reviews!
SCUCC also has a long tradition of very special Christmas Pageants integrating modern themes such as Spiritually Blonde, the Wizard of Oz, Harry Potter, and Charlie and the Chocolate factory with the Christmas story.
We also have a monthly teen worship service that is shared with other UCC churches in the area. The venue rotates among the churches with dinner, worship and games being presented by each group in turn. This has been well attended – usually with about 50 youth.
For the current schedule of youth events see News and Events.
